DC War Memorial Permit Rules
What You Need to Know
The DC War Memorial is located on National Park Service land. Park regulations are strictly enforced to protect this historic site and ensure public access.
Time Limits

All activities, including setup and breakdown, must take place within the time listed on your permit.

Equipment must be placed immediately before the ceremony and removed immediately after.

This permit applies only to the specific area designated on your permit.
Public Access & Traffic

The memorial remains open to the public at all times.

Special care must be taken to avoid blocking walkways, interfering with visitor movement, or disrupting vehicular traffic.
Equipment & Decorations

All equipment must be approved in advance and listed on the permit.

Equipment or decorations may not be attached to:

Trees

Plantings
-
Benches
-
Fences
-
Light standards

Any park structure or landscape element

No holes may be dug.

Electricity is not available.

Gas-powered generators are not permitted.

Battery-powered generators may be allowed, but:

Cords must be in good condition and properly grounded

Wires crossing walkways must be covered to prevent tripping hazards

Throwing Items & Park Protection

Flower petals, rice, confetti, and similar materials may not be thrown or scattered.

Balloons are prohibited.

Alteration, damage, or removal of park resources is strictly prohibited.

All trash must be removed or placed in park receptacles.
Candles, Alcohol & Receptions

Candles are not allowed.

Alcoholic beverages and glass containers are prohibited.

Receptions are not permitted at this location.
Music & Sound

Recorded music may be used only if kept at very low volume.

A maximum of two unamplified musical instruments may be played.

No amplified sound is permitted.
Parking

Parking is not included with the permit.

No special parking arrangements can be made.

Parking is allowed only in designated spaces.
