Ceremony Rules & Information

Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park offers two ceremony areas: Beach Access #7 and the Lighthouse Area. Please review the general park rules first, then read the section for your specific ceremony location.


Rules That Apply to All Ceremonies

Park access & timing

  • The park is open from 8:00 AM until sunset unless after-hours access is approved.

  • Everyone must leave the park by sunset or park closing time, or by the end time listed on your permit.

  • Special event permits do not guarantee entrance to the park.

  • During busy seasons, the park may reach capacity. Arriving early is strongly recommended.

Cleanup & responsibility

  • All decorations, chairs, tables, vendors, equipment, and trash must be fully removed by the approved end time.

  • The couple is responsible for setup and cleanup.

  • Large furniture is not permitted.

  • A damage deposit may be required. Any damages or items left behind may result in additional fees.

Decor & prohibited items

  • All synthetic or plastic décor is prohibited, including:

    • Confetti, glitter, balloons, piñatas

    • Synthetic flowers or petals

    • Floating or flaming lanterns

    • Crepe paper

  • Rice and birdseed may not be thrown.

  • Animal or wildlife releases are not allowed.

  • Candles, sparklers, torches, fireworks, and open flames are prohibited.

  • Decorations may only be attached using tape or string.

  • Decorations may not be attached to trees, signs, or fences.

  • All décor and tape must be removed after the ceremony.

Alcohol, pets & cooking

  • Alcoholic beverages and glass containers are not allowed anywhere in the park.

  • Pets are not permitted.

  • Cooking or barbecuing is not allowed on the beach or under picnic shelters.

Environment & wildlife

  • Sand dunes, vegetation, and natural areas are protected and may not be entered or disturbed.

  • The seagrass/wrack line is natural and must not be removed or raked.

  • Do not feed wildlife, including birds, raccoons, or iguanas. Violations may result in fines.

Parking & entrance fees

  • All guests and vendors must pay the park entrance fee.

  • The couple is responsible for covering entrance and parking fees for vendors.

  • Prepaying guest entrance fees may be arranged in advance if requested.

Seasonal restrictions

  • Turtle nesting season runs from April 1 through October 31.

  • During this time, after-hours activity may be restricted.


Beach Access #7 (Beach Ceremony Area)

  • Located near the rock jetty with views of the lighthouse.

  • This area is open to the public and your permit does not provide exclusive use.

  • Other visitors may be present during your ceremony.


Lighthouse Area (Private Ceremony Area)

  • Includes the coconut palm pathway, lighthouse tower, and Keeper’s Cottage.

  • Available only after 4:00 PM, once the gated area closes to the public.

  • Events in this area are private.

  • A Special Event Ranger is required for:

    • All lighthouse area events

    • Any after-hours event

    • Any event with more than 30 people

  • Chairs and décor are allowed in this area, with couple-managed setup and cleanup
